SWIFT PROJECT
In November 2004, Yukon Zinc Corporation acquired a 100% interest in the Swift Property, located 55 kilometres southwest of the Logan deposit. The large property covers a 20 kilometre long belt of zinc-copper-silver showings with the potential for higher grade ores that could be developed in conjunction with the Logan deposit.
Currently, Yukon Zinc is undertaking an airborne gravity survey around the Swift deposit to map the full extent of the favorable rocks along the mineralized strataAir borne surveys are being completed on the Swift deposit. The 1,000-line kilometre Air-FTG airborne gravity gradiometry survey is being flown at 200m line spacing and is intended to locate density contrasts, which are often associated with base metal deposits. The survey results are expected to provide focus for the next phase of exploration work on the properties, using a survey approach that has been successful in other base metal districts.
DEPOSIT DESCRIPTION
Massive sulphide and oxide mineralization in the Window/Dan showing occurs as at least two distinct units within a complex sequence of phyllite, schist, calc-silicate rocks, and marble suggestive of stratabound mineralization. Drill results from hole SR97-06 include 1.2 metres grading 14.6% zinc and 0.2% copper from 93.85-95.05 metres and 3.62% zinc from 103.95-107.57 metres. This second interval includes 0.87 metre intercept grading 13.4% zinc and 0.1% copper. A channel sample across the Discovery showing to the southeast of the Window/Dan showing reveals up to 0.4% copper in massive pyrrhotite mineralization.
The Lucy showing, 3 kilometres further northwest, is hosted entirely within finely laminated chlorite-actinolite schist. The copper mineralization occurs along the upper contact with quartz-sericite schist and the zinc mineralization occurs within the chlorite-actinolite schist with laminated magnetite. Channel samples reveal 0.5 metres grading 2.62% copper and 1.0 metre grading 2.28% zinc. Previous drilling from two drill holes reveals anomalous copper mineralization at the Lucy showing with SR97-01 yielding a 0.81 metre intercept grading 0.35% copper. Anomalous zinc values were present from 39 to 59 metres and 243 to 248 metres respectfully with the highest single interval grading 4.65% zinc over 0.66 metres.
The Swift Property has potential for moderate to high grade stratabound massive sulphide mineralization.
