LOGAN DEPOSIT ACQUISITION

The Logan deposit is located 108 km west of Watson Lake in South Central Yukon. Yukon Zinc acquired a 60% joint venture interest in the property in May, 2003. Logan has the potential of being developed in conjunction with the nearby Swift property as a second development district for Yukon Zinc.

Currently, Yukon Zinc is undertaking an airborne gravity survey around the Logan deposit to map the full extent of the favorable rocks along the mineralized strataAir borne surveys are being completed on the Logan deposit. The 1,000-line kilometre Air-FTG® airborne gravity gradiometry survey is being flown at 200m line spacing and is intended to locate density contrasts, which are often associated with base metal deposits. The survey results are expected to provide focus for the next phase of exploration work on the properties, using a survey approach that has been successful in other base metal districts.

DEPOSIT DESCRIPTION

During the period 1979 through 1998, the predecessors of Total Energold Corporation and Almaden Resources Corporation spent approximately $4.5 million exploring the Logan property. A total of 103 diamond drill holes have been completed, defining a mineral resource of 12,300,000 tonnes grading 6.17% zinc and 26.4 g/tonne silver. The 1989 resource calculation predates the introduction of National Instrument 43-101; however, the resources appear to meet the criteria for classification as Inferred resources.

The Research in 1989 suggests very high recoveries for zinc and silver of approximately 95% and 85% respectively; producing good quality concentrates with very low levels of contaminants.

The Main zone mineralisation is open to depth. The potential for addition of underground reserves that could supplement open pit ores is suggested by intersections of 9 metres grading 10.07% zinc and 65.2 g/tonne silver, 7 metres grading 10.89% zinc and 17.1 g/tonne silver, and 10 metres grading 14.30% zinc and 21.0 g/tonne silver.

Yukon Zinc engaged Hatch Associates to undertake preliminary engineering on the combined development of Logan with Wolverine in October 2003. Included in the studies was a re-estimation of resources and development of a preliminary mining plan for the open pit portion of the resources and infrastructure studies for mill and tailings facilities. It was proposed to mine Logan as a 3000 tonne per day open pit mine and blend the ores with Wolverine ores in a 4,250 tpd mill which was to be built at Logan.

Although this development scenario remains attractive, the stand-alone development of Wolverine simply makes for a stronger project, and is expected to be a more effective catalyst for continuing exploration and development in the Finlayson District.
